Team GB Training Facilities, Paris 2024 Olympics

Team GB Performance Lodge Paris 2024

The talent on display at this year’s Olympics was extraordinary. Athletes pushed themselves to their limits, delivering unforgettable, medal-winning moments. We were honoured to be chosen to fit out Team GB’s training facilities for our third consecutive Olympic Games. With experience from Rio and Tokyo, and a proven track record with clients like Newcastle United and Dive London, we knew we were the perfect partner to support Team GB on their road to Paris and our team was more than ready to rise to the challenge once again.

Paris 2024 Gym Racks
Laying the Foundations

Our journey began well before the opening ceremony. Tasked with outfitting three key training locations – the Preparation Camp in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, the Team GB Performance Lodge in Clichy, and the British Cycling Performance Facility in Saclay – we started planning way back in 2022.

Understanding the critical role of strength and conditioning in performance and injury prevention, we carefully selected equipment and used 3D design software to perfect each gym’s layout. From plyo boxes and medicine balls to Werksan Lionfit plates and Legend power racks, we ensured the athletes had everything they needed to build strength and endurance.

By April 2024, the countdown was on. Our team visited each site to prepare for the rapid transformation. By early July, all the equipment was en route to Paris. With a dedicated team working tirelessly, we completed the installations in just seven days – perfectly on time for Team GB’s arrival!

The Gear Behind the Glory

Only the best will do when designing training facilities for Olympic athletes. We chose equipment from brands like Legend Pro, Werksan and APEX, ensuring each piece met Team GB’s standards. The 40mm heavyweight flooring provided the necessary durability and shock absorption for intense training. Legend Racks were ideal for the strength and power training, whilst Werksan IWF-accredited weight plates and bars offered the precision and reliability needed to push limits safely. We also included DC Blocks, plyo boxes, medicine balls and kettlebells from APEX to support dynamic workouts.

Strategically designed, each location supported strength-building, skill-specific drills and recovery, providing an environment for athletes to connect with coaches, foster team spirit and mentally prepare for the challenges ahead.

Paris 2024 gym space

Delivering three elite performance gyms across Paris in a short time frame is no mean feat, but we knew Absolute Performance was up to the challenge. They’ve proven their expertise, service, and quality working with Team GB at the last two Olympic Games in Rio and Tokyo

A Front-Row Seat to Greatness

Once the facilities were up and running, our team stayed in Paris to watch some events. We cheered on athletes in water polo, the triathlon relay, athletics and boxing, fully embracing the Olympic spirit. Watching these world-class athletes compete was truly inspiring. We were in awe of their dedication and skill. We also explored Champions Park and met a few famous faces, including the Olympic hero, the Phryge!

Continuing the Legacy

As the Games ended, our work wasn’t finished. We carefully dismantled the equipment at the Preparation Camp and British Cycling Performance Facility, ready to return it to the UK. This equipment will continue supporting future Olympic talent in gyms nationwide. The facility in Clichy will remain for the Paralympics, offering a world-class training environment for the next wave of Team GB athletes.

Celebrating Team GB’s Success

Reflecting on Paris 2024, we’re incredibly proud to have supported Team GB again. The dedication of everyone involved paid off, with Team GB bringing home 65 medals.

Congratulations to all the athletes, coaches and staff who contributed to this incredible achievement. It was an honour to be part of Team GB’s journey, and we look forward to what lies ahead for them in LA 2028!
