Team GB Rio 2016

World-class training facilities at Team GB camps

The British Olympic Association wanted to make the 2016 training camps the biggest and best-equipped ever to have been used by a British Olympic team. Having worked closely with the BOA before, we were brought in to handle the gym design, strength equipment and gym installation of the team’s strength and conditioning camps in Brazil.

Two full s&c suites and a functional training area for activation and recovery

After an in-depth gym design process, we flew to Brazil to meet the four shipping containers containing the strength equipment and to install the three sites.

Gym installation

Our dedicated gym installation team spent 3 and a half weeks out in Rio where they spent a week installing the elite strength equipment from Legend Fitness.

Strength equipment

Premium-quality strength equipment ranging from dumbbells, jerk blocks and resistance bands to squat stations and benches.

Cardio

Rowing machines and Concept2 standing ski ergs.

Extras

Saunas and ice baths.

Team colours

Racks, machines and benches in GB’s red and blue.

Branding

Team GB branded equipment including lifting platforms, plyo boxes and training plates made by IWF-accredited Werksan.

One Team GB

The training camps were a huge success and, as intended, helped unite athletes from all across the sporting spectrum.

Team GB athletes were able to train with state-of-the-art strength equipment that mimicked the high standard and quality they were used to back in the UK, and thus create a positive impact on their performance.
