In a drive to boost membership, enhance group class usage and offer something different to a conventional gym, ClubAZ, the leisure provider for AstraZeneca, now has the ‘WOW’ factor for staff and general members to enjoy.
Absolute Performance (AP) was brought in by cardio manufacturer Precor to help with the expansion and improvement of the gym at AstraZeneca’s UK site in Macclesfield, based within the Hulley’s Sports Complex.
AP refurbished the existing gym and reconfigured it to accommodate an increase in member numbers. A new S&C area was also installed along with a dedicated functional space in the existing gym.
The range of equipment supplied by AP included three AP wall-mounted racks; branded adjustable benches; new PU coated dumbbells set up to 60kg; AP Olympic plates and bars; and a functional training rig with accessories including a rope pull; integrated half-rack; integrated cable crossover; and dipping and step attachments.
Speaking about new look ClubAZ, general manager, Dave Bailey, said:
This new gym is a fantastic resource for AZ staff and general members offering a variety of training options and group classes. Feedback has been extremely positive and the gym refurbishment has resulted in increased membership and facility usage.
Simon Britton from AP added:
The wall mounted racks were made-to-measure due to limited ceiling height and the branded benches help create a motivational training space. The end-result is an extremely vibrant and exciting training space with first-class equipment; and it’s great to see such a resource for staff to benefit from.
